GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Six people face misdemeanor charges for providing alcohol to a teenager who died in a rollover accident in September. Tami Lindemulder, 18, died early in the morning of Sept. 17, 2011 when she didn't negotiate a curve along Fillmore Avenue east of 36th Street in Georgetown Township. She went off the road, hit some trees, rolled over and was ejected. The car landed on her, and she died at the scene. Toxicology reports revealed her blood alcohol content was .30 at the time. Lindemulder had been drinking at an off-campus party with some GVSU students before she got behind the wheel. The six people who lived in the apartment are the ones facing the charges. "It will be interesting to see where this case goes from here," Lt. Steve Kempker told 24 Hour News 8. Her blood alcohol level of .30 "is very concerning, even at that high to be out operating a vehicle. Normally, people in that range are at the hospital to be checked." Investigators will bring charges of allowing consumption of alcohol to a minor against five young men. A sixth person, a young woman, will be charged for furnishing alcohol to her. All are under the age of 21. "I think the best rule of thumb is if (drinking) is taking place, not to be there and not to be involved and really think twice," Kempker said. "If you're an adult and you're supplying alcohol you better be ready to face the consequences, both criminally and civilly." He said he doesn't think "people realize the trickle down effect" from crashes. "I mean, you're affecting hundreds of people and you're affecting your pocket book, your insurance. It can put a big dent in your lifestyle."
